Description

mPEG-OPSS, is a polyethylene glycol (PEG) product with an orthopyridyl disulfide (OPSS) functional group at one end of the PEG chain and a methoxy at the other end.

Key features and benefits:

  • Thiol-reactive OPSS group: The OPSS group reacts specifically with thiol groups, forming a stable disulfide bond. This reaction is mild and does not require harsh conditions, making it suitable for sensitive biomolecules.
  •    Reversible bond formation: Creates a disulfide bond that can be cleaved under reducing conditions allowing for the release of the thiol group and subsequent conjugation to other molecules
  • Versatile applications: mPEG-OPSS finds applications in various fields, including:
  • Bioconjugation: Modifying proteins, peptides, and antibodies to enhance their properties, such as stability, solubility, and bioavailability.
  • Nanoparticle functionalization: Attaching targeting ligands or therapeutic agents to nanoparticles for drug delivery and imaging. Modification of nanoparticles with PEG to improve biocompatibility and stability.
  • Polymer chemistry: Creating functional polymers with tailored properties for materials science and biomedical engineering..

Common applications of mPEG-OPSS:

  • Protein modification: PEGylation of proteins to enhance their properties.
  • Drug delivery: Development of targeted drug delivery systems.
  • Protein modification: Can be used to modify proteins with PEG, increasing their solubility, stability, and reducing immunogenicity.
  • Nanoparticle functionalization: mPEG-OPSS can be used to attach PEG to nanoparticles, improving their biocompatibility and circulation time.
  • Drug delivery: Can be used to modify drug molecules with PEG, increasing their solubility and bioavailability.
  • Biomaterials: mPEG-OPSS can be used to create PEGylated biomaterials with improved properties.
